i think i wrote about this before, never ever try to press your child. just let him do what he wish to do, so long as he not causing trouble to family and society. let him chase after and achieve his dream(s). why you want to decide for him? why you want to violate his rights? put yourself in his shoes, what will you feel? why not just give him freedom to choose what he want to be? at least he won't blame you in the later days. what is the different between engineer and painter? it is just a job for you, but it is a dream for him! A DREAM! Why you want to kill his dream? What will you do if other do the same thing on you? he will do better if he has the interest on it, but he will only suffer if go against his will. Please don't press him, let him choose his destiny. he will make you proud one day. I really don't understand some parents, why you want to plan everything for your son? you want to decide the education, later you want to decide his job, and then decide his future wife, then what else? can you plan for his child or children? can you plan for his happy marriage or guarantee it? can you guarantee he will be happy with the job you plan for him? can you ensure he will be happy until the day he off to heaven? if you can't guarantee anything, then why you want to plan everything for him? just play the consultant role and be there for him whenever he need you, give him the full support for him, give him motivation, give him your full support! let him decide what he want to do, he is mature enough to decide his own future. it is time to let go. let him spread his wings and fly high with his own strength. feel proud of him. even if he flunk his exam, this doesn't mean that he didn't do his best, how you know? you were not him! he been burning the midnight oil just try to get the best result. but sometimes luck is not always there, hard work not necessarily mean you will get "A". you as parent also experience all these before, so why now you want to impose your bad experiences on him? it is totally not fair. I am begging to all the parents, please let your child have the right to choose what he want, you just provide advices and supports are good enough. show some respect to your child! they deserve it! they are not your toy! not your puppet! they have their own life and will! why want them to live under your shadow, your wish? why they need to be the one that you wish yourself wanted to be at the past? Don't be selfish! Don't be so dictator! One Hitler is enough, don't make yourself become the second! Let them have a chance to choose.......a choice to make you proud....a choice to make them a better human....a choice to let them show off their talents to the world at large ......a choice to make them feel grateful to have you as a parent!
