life is about choices
life is about choices, don't you agree? i always think that we deserve the best to ourselves. we choose the food we want to eat (contrary we have no right to choose which organic fertilizer to produce), we choose what kind of books and movies we want to read and watch (porn as well right? unless like me always so accidentally/incidentally bump into the websites), we choose to go after the one that we think is suitable for us (even later become a disaster still we can file divorce), ain't we always have choices to choose for ourselves?
it is the same when come to choose the right course to study. unless you are so damn certain that that is the only and only course that you want and that is your only ambition. contrary, if you were at the crossroad to choose the course to study for yourself, then why not do some research and let yourself expose to the different fields and from there only you make your brilliant decision? you should never let anyone decide for you. the logic is very simple, you are the one that will study (either you enjoy or suffer, only you know), and later you are the one that will join the work force and spend 50% of your entire life in that field. So, you want to let others to decide for your future? what if they make a wrong decision? you want to bear the culpability on behalf of their wrongdoing? what if later only you figure out that you don't actually enjoy the course? that is not what you want? you want REGRET for your whole life because of them? come on, dude, grow up! it is time for you to be independence and it is the time for you to held responsible for yourself. whether you make a right or wrong decision, at least you will not regret in your later life (NOT after life). you never try, you will never know.
take me as example, since i was child, i wanted to be a painter, but sooner i realize that is only a dream in fantasy. then i went on to musician, again, i failed. I failed not because i don't have the passion, but because of my parents (that is why i said never let anyone decide for you). i moved on to law, unfortunately i failed to build my interest. after that, i went on to Vet, yeah man, that was like my dream came through. i love the course very much, deplorably, i was not so tolerate with the medicine. I had to give up. i applied to enter computer science soon after that, but i was disqualified from the course, til now i am still wondering the reason. eventually, i ended up with the current profession. even though i spend a few decades for that, but i never regret, at least i tried and finally i know what i want in my life. Its my life, not others. no one should ever decide on what i should do and what should i become. i will bear my own responsibility for my life. i can shout out loud to the entire world: "I NEVER REGRET!"
we always have alternatives in our life. if not A, then go for B, not suitable still have C and so on. you have to ask yourself, what you want in your life? what you want to achieve? where is your goal? what is your target? even you have your answer, but do you do enough preparation to go for it? there is no free lunch, my dear friend, stop your daydream and be realistic. you have to work like bull and shed all your tears, blood and shits to achieve it. there will not be any windfall, you are living in real world, not Alice in wonderland.
so why you want to limit yourself to limited choices? expose yourself to multiple choices and choose the most best suitable for you. once you know your way, pave the way and work hard for it, gear up and helm your wheels towards it. crossroad can only confuse those cannot make up their mind, build your super highway to make a fortune in your destiny. All the very best to you, my young friend. you always have my support and blessing along with you. you are not alone in your journey, the seraphim always beside you.
November 2, 2008 at 6:28 AM I can still say out loud that "I DON'T regret" about the choices I've made so far, however I'm uncertain that I am able to say "I WON'T regret" for we can't tell what's gonna happen in the future, can we? Nevertheless, hopefully someday I'll look back in my past and really shout out, "I NEVER regret at all"! John Ng
